THE HARRIS SHELTER
The Harris Shelter has become one of the most favored picnic spots in the park. Located overlooking the Catfish Pond to the west and the Bowl to the north. The hexagon-shaped shelter features a center fire pit/grill along with access to electricity. There is another grill near the outside of the shelter along with restroom facilities.
The Harris Shelter, a 45 foot hexagonal structure was made possible, partially by a contribution from the Harris falmily in 2007. It is dedicated to the memory of Edgar Harris, Lt. Col., USAF, Lillian Harris, and their son Robert Harris, Lt., USN, who was killed in Vietnam in 1968 while serving his country.
