RESTORED WETLANDS

The Restored Wetlands are located on a parcel of land purchased by the Foundation that connected with the original park grounds and Sprehe Ball FIelds. They can be reached on foot following the Wilderness trails, however are more easily accesible at the entrance off 508 Country Club Road.

In the summer of 2002, after much research, restoration of a second natural environment in the park began with the excavation of two shallow wetland pools. The pools, not meant for stock fish, are an intricate part of this unique eco-system. A drainage gate has been designed into them to help maintain the water at proper levels. In adition to the grasses and forbes, this area has been heavily planted with trees and shrubs befitting a wetland terrain.
